Firestorm
– Southern California 10.21.07
Many of you have emailed or attempted to call our farm for the past
several weeks to determine if the recent fires had affected our property
– your thoughtfulness is much appreciated! We are sad to say that
we did in fact suffer the loss of all of our barns and outbuilding,
although we suffered no losses to our horses as they were safely evacuated.
Plans are in place to rebuild the barn – it should be in place
within the next couple of months. We have selected FCP Barns as our
barn designer and builder – they have been wonderful to deal with
and we highly recommend them for those needing barns and/or outbuilding.

Our
Elite Mare Ladylike does it again!
Her 2007 hanoverian filly, Donatienna SP, by Donnerschlag (Donnerhall)
impressed the judges with her flawless conformation and outstanding movement
at the recent American Hanoverian Society inspection in August, 2007.
This filly was not only named top filly, but also TOP FOAL for the inspection.
This is Ladylike’s fourth foal (all fillies) all of which have been
named TOP FOAL at every inspection for both American Hanoverian Society
and German Oldenburg Verband.
Ladylike
is safely in foal to the incredible stallion Regazonni for a May, 2008
foal. This foal is available for purchase – inquire for terms.

Congrats to our client Kasey Cannon and the Batido son “Bonjourno”
(now called Boin Gourno) and his rider Nick Wagman. “Boney”
is now showing Grand Prix Dressage on the A circuit with excellent scores.
He is truly following in his fathers’ footsteps.

Congrats
to two of San Diego Sporthorses’ home grown offspring –
both daughters of our Elite Hanoverian Mare Ladylike! Bailey (Batido
X EM Ladylike) was rated at Number 1 in the U.S. for 3 year old Materiale
for 2006; The two year old black Hanoverian filly “Markova”
(Madison X EM Ladylike) was rated 4th in the U.S. in the Young Horse
Inhand Division. Both of these fillies are being shown on the very competitive
east coast (Florida). What a outstanding job for these two “California
Girls”!
-
We
are very honored to be awarded Fourth Place for Dressage Breeding for
the entire United States by both the USDF and USEA. This placing was
based on the outstanding scores received from offspring bred by San
Diego Sporthorses which include: Bailey (Batido X EM Ladylike); Markova
SP (Madison X EM Ladylike); Watch Out (Waldorff X Lehnsgabe); Whinney
(Werigo X Watch Out). A huge thank you to the owners of these fine horses
– Liz Olmstead (Bailey); Lori Minteer – Markova; Watch Out;
and Whinney!
- Congrats to our client Deena Smith and the outstanding year she has
had with her Batido son Brigadier. “Bufford” not only represented
the U.S. in Verdan, Germany last year for the 6 year old FEI classes,
but also tied for first place again for the U.S. finals! Brigadier is
now showing PSG with excellent scores, and was awarded a 2nd place finish
at PSG at the huge DG Bar Ranch Show in May, 2007! This was his first
time showing at PSG – outstanding job – not bad for a horse
that is just coming 7! Best of luck to Deena and Brigadier’s rider/trainer,
David Wightman.
August
2006
A
huge congratulations to our wonderful client Deena Smith and her outstanding
Batido gelding “Brigadier” who has had an incredible show
career at the tender age of 6! Deena wrote us this week with their exciting
news: “Just got back from Verden....it was such an adventure.
It was a HUGE show with all the top riders including Isabell Werth!
Bufford did pretty good there. The first day he was a little tense and
didn't do the changes well and was 25th (out of 36) with a score of
6.70. The second day he was great and was 9th with a 7.26. He was the
highest placed American horse there and the only American bred one!
We are planning on going to Kentucky in September for the National final.
It really was fun being there and Bufford really did look great......even
in the test he didn't score so well in. There were lots of great compliments
from many people watching. I am very proud of him and his rider, David
Wightman!!!
“Bufford”
was not only the second highest scoring horse in the U.S. for the 6
year FEI Young Horse Division, he also placed third last year in the
5 year old FEI Young Horse Division, and was placed 1st for American
bred!!!
What
an honor to have owned the wonderful stallion that produced this fantastic
horse. To have one of Batido’s offspring represent the U.S. has
us all on cloud nine. We only wish Batido were still with us, producing
even more of these top competition horses….

Brown-Miegel of FL, and ridden by Debbie Hill, wins the Region 3 Championships
at Training Level with a score of 71.731%.
March 11, 2004
It is with a very heavy heart that we at San Diego Sporthorses announce,
that our flagship Elite Hanoverian Stallion Batido (Bolero) passed away
in his pasture this morning in Jupiter, FL. Although we do not have
all of the details, we have been told that the vets feel it was most
likely due to a brain aneurysm.
Batido
left a legacy of incredible offspring who are just now starting to make
a name for themselves in the show ring. We wish to thank all of the
many mare owners who were lucky enough to have a Batido foal of their
own - they truly are special.
Goodbye
Mr. B...we will miss you and love you forever.
